The British University in Dubai (BUiD), the region’s leading research-based post-graduate university, has this year offered the largest number of scholarships since its inception in 2003, providing more applicants the opportunity to acquire higher education.
Approximately 60 percent of the 2009 September intake were provided scholarships from BUiD and its partners, Emirates Foundation, and Atkins.
In addition, for the first time, BUiD has introduced a new scholarship programme, covering 25 percent of the entire course fee to accommodate more students looking to further their degrees in higher education.
“At BUiD, our aim is to help our talented applicants become leaders in their respective fields,” said Professor Abdullah Alshamsi, Vice-Chancellor, The British University in Dubai.
“In order to nurture the talent seen in our increasing number of applications, we launched our new scholarship programme this year covering 25 percent of the course fee. Our partners such as Emirates Foundation and Atkins continue to help our students achieve higher education by providing scholarships year-on-year. Now more than ever, there are more options for professionals looking to advance their education,” added Alshamsi.
Earlier this year, in a bid to recruit the region’s most talented IT graduates for its Master’s programme in IT, BUiD provided three full-tuition fellowships for the September 2009 intake.
As part of the fellowship, the students spend the equivalent to 20 hours per week working as researchers / lab assistants with the Faculty of Informatics at BUiD to help develop and expand its research and undertake project-work.
BUiD is now accepting scholarship applicants for all programmes ahead of the January 2010 intake. Scholarship applications close on 2nd January 2010.
BUiD offers full and part-time research based Masters Degree programmes, the regions first accredited Doctorate in Education and Continuing Professional Development courses in: Education, Finance and Banking, Human Resource Management, Information Technology, IT Management, Project Management, Systems Engineering, Construction Law and Dispute Resolution, and Sustainable Design of the Built Environment
