Bus drivers in Baalbek honked their horns during a demonstration in the town on Sunday to protest the recent increase in fuel prices.
Association of Bus Drivers representative Mohammed Fouani complained that the price of 20 liters of diesel had increased to LL11,000, forcing them to raise their fares.
The group in the Bekaa-Hermel region represents 750 private drivers who provide public transport to and from the region.
Fouani also complained about traffic police frequently issuing tickets to drivers for stopping to allow passengers to embark or disembark. He said this was due to the lack of proper bus stops – Albawaba.com
