Three people were killed and six injured after a car bomb detonated outside a restaurant in the Somali capital, police told the AFP on Tuesday.
The attack follows a string of explosions as al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Shabaab militants continue hostilies as they fight for power in the country.
Police officer Ahmad Warhere told the AFP the vehicle was parked outside the restaurant when it detonated. While no one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, Mogadishu has been the center of several attacks conducted by Shabaab.
Earlier this week UN staff members in Somalia were targeted by a car bomb placed on their bus, which killed four UNICEF employees and two Somali security guards.
UN envoy to Somalia Nick Kay condemned "another atrocity" and said the "killing needs to stop," according to AFP.
Shabaab was originally created as a rebellion against US-backed Ethiopian troops that invaded Somalia to topple the Islamic Courts Union. Since then the extremist group has continued to try to overthrow the internationally recognized government.
