Cargo ship hit by unknown projectile in Strait of Hormuz

ALBAWABA - A cargo ship was hit by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

UKMTO said Wednesday that it has received a report of an incident 25NM northwest of Ra's al Khaymah, UAE.

UKMTO said in a statement, "The Master of a container vessel has reported that the vessel sustained damage from a suspected but unknown projectile."

The statement continued, "The extent of the damage is currently unknown but under investigation by the crew. The Master also reports that all crew members are safe and accounted for. Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO while authorities continue to investigate the incident."
