Castro in Damascus Tuesday for Talks with Assad

Cuban President Fidel Castro is due to arrive Tuesday in Damascus on a two-day official visit to hold talks with his counterpart, Bashar Al Assad, reported the Syrian news agency (SANA). 

In Qatar on Monday, an official round of talks was held between the emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and President Castro, said Qatar News Agency (QNA). 

The talks “reviewed means of developing horizons of existing cooperation between the two countries in all domain...and a number of regional and international issues of interest were also covered in the talks,” said the agency. 

Castro is on a tour that has already taken him to Algeria, Iran and Malaysia, in addition to Qatar. Syria was not initially on his agenda – Albawaba.com
