Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) and Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), strategic partners for the upcoming ‘Regional Forum on the Role of Islamic Financial Institutions in Financing for Development’ are pleased to announce that several sponsors have joined the initiative to make this forum a huge success. The forum will be held on the 5th & 6th of September 2007 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Bahrain.
Many prestigious local and regional institutions have confirmed their participation as Forum Sponsors. Mr. Nazem Abdalla, Chief of the Globalization and Regional Integration Division in UN-ESCWA stated that he is “extremely pleased about the willingness of the CBB to cooperate with UN-ESCWA in this important event and to facilitate the establishment and strengthening of relationship between UN-ESCWA and the private sector in Bahrain. This partnership is in line with the United Nations policy towards forging closer partnership with non-state actors, particularly the private sector.”
Mr. Abdalla added that he looks forward to further cooperation with financial institutions in the region for the purpose of promoting development in the Arab countries.
During the forum various prominent local, regional and international experts will focus on discussing key issues in the Islamic financial market, such as the role of Islamic Financial Institutions in project finance, venture capital, the role and impact of Sukuk as an instrument for development finance, strengthening inter-regional financing for development purposes and the future prospects of Islamic finance.
