Cerner Corp., the gold sponsor of the Global Healthcare Expansion Congress, will highlight its integrated healthcare information technology (HIT) solutions at the international conference taking place in Dubai, UAE, on Sept. 5 – 6, 2007. Dr. Rex Ragsdale, Cerner Chief Medical Officer – East region, and a Cerner client physician from Hospital Sultan Ismail will present the keynote address today, articulating the essential role clinicians play in executing successful HIT implementations.
Every day, thousands of clinicians around the globe connect to their centralized Cerner Millennium electronic medical record (EMR) to access vital information for effective decision-making. Combining technology with knowledge, the Cerner Millennium solution empowers health professionals to run tests, make diagnoses, place orders, fill medications, document care or remit bills using a single information system.
“Hospital Sultan Ismail is one of the most modern digital hospitals in Malaysia implementing a total hospital information system,” said the physician speaker from Malaysia. “As a result, our patients are receiving safer, more effective care while improving the efficiency of our organization as a whole.”
Hospital Sultan Ismail, a 704-bed hospital located in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, launched its first Cerner system in 2006. Today, its physicians utilize Cerner’s computerized physician order entry (CPOE) solution throughout the organization, which is fully integrated with the Cerner Millennium EMR. This hospital is currently live with the Cerner Millennium entire suite of clinical solutions including pharmacy, radiology and pathology.
At the Global Healthcare Expansion Congress, the Cerner client physician along with Dr. Ragsdale will present how Cerner’s CPOE solution enables physicians to remove steps from order entry and eliminate time-intensive, duplicative processes. They will also remark on how physicians, nurses, pharmacists and ancillary caregivers can communicate, receive and take note of patient care decisions more efficiently and effectively.
“We are fortunate to have such highly regarded physicians join us in Dubai to share their extensive experience on the crucial involvement of physicians throughout the entire HIT program,” said Amr Mostafa, general manager – Cerner Middle East. “This joint presentation reflects the pride our clients take in their HIT accomplishments and the benefits they receive from partnering with a supplier that has proven its ability to deliver predictable results and great value to clinicians and patients alike.”
Cerner has more CPOE implementations on current platforms than any other supplier, and for three consecutive years, its CPOE solution has been recognized by KLAS as offering the highest value proposition for providers, scoring the highest against its competitors in system reliability and uptime. In addition, the Cerner Millennium solution ranked first in nursing adoption in the inaugural KLAS Nursing Adoption of IT Study released in July.
