Puglia, the south-eastern part of Italy whose landmass makes up the heel of the boot, is under the spotlight at Certo, the award winning Italian restaurant in time for Gulf Foods 2010.

Radisson Blue Hotel, Dubai Media City has partnered with the Italian Trade Commission to host the first Puglia food festival to introduce the cuisine of the Italian region of Puglia.

According to the hotel’s Operations Manger, Marco Aveta, the region is also known by his fellow Italian’s as ‘the breadbasket of Italy’ in recognition of Puglia’s large wheat production and subsequent wide-range of handmade pasta, as well as the ‘dark and tasty’ Altamura bread.

“There is no better time to introduce one of Italy’s most ancient and delicious cuisines - the one of the Puglia region – than during the most prominent food exhibition in the Middle East, Gulf Food 2010”, enthused Aveta.

He said that Chef Renzo Rossi has flown in especially from Puglia, and with Certo’s Chef Simon, has created a menu to reflect ‘simple approach to cuisine’ of Puglia.

“Puglia cuisine is developed on the ‘less is more’ principle.  Each dish is made from a few, but high-quality products to keep the food simple but authentic in taste by just combining the superb ingredients available in its region,” Chef Simon, the outlet Chef of Certo added.

“Puglia’s produce is abundant across wheat-based pasta, breads of folkloric tradition, as well as fruit and vegetables known for their rich flavours and fragrance.”

Puglia at Certo Italian Restaurant, Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City runs until February 27 2010.
