Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the greatest footballers in recent history, has challenged football obsessed teenagers to match his speed on the football pitch. Nike and Sun & Sand Sports have partnered to bring Ronaldo’s speed challenge to the Mall of the Emirates Atrium from 6- 8th May with prizes to be won for those who show they can compete with Ronaldo’s speed. Participants will be asked to reenact a video of Ronaldo running around a series of various obstacles before kicking the ball into a goal with timely precision. Known as ‘The Cristiano Ronaldo Speed Test’ this video challenge is opening up a world of opportunities for the youth of the region to master speed.
“You will need rapid pace and agility to compete with Ronaldo and we hope that the Nike Football + videos on Nikefootball.com are fully taken advantage of by regional youth. Nike has the best football players on earth who are now openly sharing signature moves, techniques, training drills and challenges via the Nike Football+ portal which can be accessed on the Nike website or downloaded as an application on to an iPhone or iTouch.” explains Sahar El-Guindy, Brand Manager of Nike Middle East.
Tommy Wingrove, head coach of the Nike Elite Training Programme is also visiting schools in search of the fastest footballers in the region. Tommy will be visiting a few select schools this week where he will set up the Ronaldo Speed Test and handpick ten of the fastest teenagers from all the schools. These lucky winners will have the chance win their respective football teams an exclusive Nike football training session.
As of today, the Nike Football Middle East Facebook page will also allow members to submit their personal performance of the Ronaldo Speed Test in video format. The top videos will be chosen and these winners will have the chance to have a training session with a famous Nike footballer!
“Nike and Sun and Sand Sports are delighted to bring another innovative event to an important segment of our target market. It provides a great opportunity for the youth to perform in and interact with the latest Nike football technology”, said Vishal Bhatia, Marketing Manager of Sun and Sand Sports.
