The Chechnyan government hosted a state-run protest against the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo for publishing a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammad, reports the Agence France Presse.

Russia's interior ministry estimated that 800,000 people attended the protest in Grozny, Chechnya on Monday.

Chechnya is also the home of the Boston Bomber, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who will begin his testimony in court later this month for his involvement in the terror attack at the Boston Marathon that killed three people and injured dozens on April 15, 2013.
