With the addition of a “trends” feature on the popular porn website Xvideos.com, it can be revealed that searches related to children, rape and even babies are popular in the Middle East. The accuracy of these trends cannot be verified, and are shown as they were on the website itself.

Following the likes of Facebook and Twitter, the hugely popular porn website, XVideos.com, has added a “trends” feature to its homepage. With the option of selecting which country to view trending topics in, it is now possible to see exactly what type of adult video is popular in any part of the world. But this feature has exposed something much darker: it is not just adult videos that people are searching for, and viewers in the Middle East have some of the most disturbing and disgusting late-night browsing habits.

XVideos, reportedly based in Prague, is one of the world’s most popular porn websites, with a global Alexa ranking of 54.

On July 26, we checked to see which topics were trending in various countries around the world, and found that search terms relating to rape and children were among the most popular in the Middle East. Such search terms were less popular in countries such as the US and France (perhaps due to effective cyber policing), but searches related to incest still appeared to be common. The Internet’s favourite porn star, Mia Khalifa, was also popular, both in the West and Middle East.

NSFW: Below are some of the trending searches in the Middle East we found on XVideos.com.

Syria

The country may be at war, but that apparently hasn’t stopped the terms “violent rape”, “foreigner rape” and “children” from trending on XVideos.

Egypt

Egypt was perhaps the most disturbing, with searches such as "brother rapes his sister", "sex animals and girls" and "gangrape sister" trending. This was in addition to child-related searches.

Algeria and Iraq

Algerian and Iraqi trending searches included "sex children under 15 years old", as well as others related to force and children.

Kuwait

Perhaps most abhorrent among all of the searches found on XVideos trending was from kuwait: "baby sex".

Palestine

Search trends in Palestine included terms related to children, rape (including "gangrape sister") and, interestingly, "Israel".

Israel

Israel was not as interested in Palestine, it seems, but incest and force were common topics in the trends informtation on XVideos.

In comparison, countries in the West such as the US, UK and France appreared to have less extreme search trends. There may be multiple reasons for this, but fear of beng caught is likely high up among them.

The US did have "little girl" trending as a search term, but most were the names of famous pornstars and other vanilla topics (oh, and "the simpsons").

It is important to highlight the fact that just because these illegal topics are trending in the Middle East does not mean that it is just a regional phenomenon. The advanced nature of cyber policing in the West likely means that those wishing to look for child porn or rape videos use the Dark Web and VPNs to avoid being arrested. The priorities for cyber police in the Middle East likely revolve around terrorism-related issues.

However, perhaps by including the trending searches feature, XVidoes has brought to awareness the need to tackle the issue of people searching for illegal, violent and sometimes incestial porn.
