ALBAWABA - Guangdong, China: Typhoon Saola, the ninth to hit China this year, has wreaked havoc in the southern province of Guangdong. With its landfall, tragedy struck as a tree crushed a vehicle in Shenzhen, claiming one life.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong faced the wrath of the typhoon, with approximately 500 flights canceled and a woman knocked down and dragged by its powerful winds.

The region was already on high alert as Saola approached, leading to the evacuation of 780,000 people from high-risk areas and the return of over 80,000 fishing boats to port. Additionally, the opening dates for schools in 13 cities across the province were postponed.
