Pop sensation Christina Aguilera is trying to put a brave face on a family tragedy; as her beloved Great Aunt Ruth was taken to hospital for a life or death operation.

Aguilera, her mother Sally Kearns and sister Rachel are already mourning the death of their Uncle Don who passed away last month, September 2000, and were devastated to hear Aunt Ruth was also struggling.

Kearns admits, "It sincerely doesn't look very good for her

survival. Don's death was very hard because he was so very close to

Christina, Rachel and I so you can imagine how we feel right now."

Aguilera is forced to spend this testing time away from home, as

she prepares for her Los Angeles concerts, which start next

Wednesday, October 11th, 2000.

But she's keeping in constant touch with her family and has

turned to her boyfriend Jorge Santos, who has a home in Hollywood, to keep her cheery.

Kearns adds, "I'd really appreciate it if everyone could say

prayers for my Aunt Ruth's recovery and that she'll be okay. I

firmly believe in the power of prayer-and the more said, the

stronger it is” – Wenn.
