Marking the World No Tobacco Day, City Mall hosted an anti-smoking awareness day organized by the King Hussein Cancer Center. The event comprised of an educational exhibit geared towards adults and children and the dissemination of educational brochures detailing the adverse health effects of first and second hand smoking.
“We are committed to supporting campaigns geared toward raising public awareness of key health issues, particularly when it comes to combating the pandemic of smoking.” Commented Mrs. Zeina Al Masri, Marketing Manager at City Mall “We believe that the private sector should play a major role in supporting such initiatives and, since City Mall is a shopping destination that attracts a significant number of visitors, it was chosen to host this activity to reach as many people as possible.”

The campaign also included several screens that were placed at the site to broadcast local and international anti-tobacco advertisements, as well as other interactive promotional tools, one of which was a “smoking calculator” that estimates an individual’s weekly, monthly and annual expenditure on cigarettes based on the number of cigarettes smoked daily.
This initiative reflects City Mall’s commitment to its local community, particularly when it comes to raising awareness on integral health issues. The Mall had previously hosted several campaigns in cooperation with the King Hussein Cancer Center, including Cancer Can be Prevented Too and the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.
