Clashes kill at least 40 in central Nigeria

ALBAWABA - The Red Cross and locals said that at least 40 people were killed during an ambush and gang clashes in central Nigeria.

AFP reported that an armed group in Plateau state killed at least 40 members of village self-defence groups in a weekend ambush and related attack.

State Red Cross secretary Nuruddeen Hussain Magaji said in a statement that "hundreds of vigilantes were ambushed" Sunday in the village of Kukawa.
