A coalition led by the U.S. conducted 26 airstrikes on Daesh positions in Iraq from Sunday to Monday morning, reported AFP.  The coalition forces used both manned and unmanned aircraft, according to officials.

About half of the airstrikes hit Daesh positions in Iraq’s western Anbar province, where the militant group seeks to expand control.

The airstrikes come at the heels of recent victories by Iraqi forces to reclaim seized territory from Daesh.  Earlier this month, the Iraqi army was able to take full control of the city of Ramadi from Daesh militants.  Late last month, the army recaptured the city of Tikrit

Daesh seized swathes of territory across Iraq in summer 2014 in a major offensive.
