Conference on Bedouin poetry and song

The Batna Cultural House hosted on May 11 and 12 in its Mohamed Lourassi Auditorium the first national conference on Bedouin poetry and song. The event, which is organized by the Mohamed Laid Al Khalifa House of Culture and by the district of Batna, is taking place in the framework of the Algerian national month of inheritance activities and is planned to bring together twenty-seven Algerian poets and several popular bands, coming from nine districts in the country.

 

<i>El Moudjahid</i> reports that the conference's two-day program includes a series of debates and open discussions on the place of popular poetry in the national oral culture and the historical time reference of the Bedouin poetic creation as well as concerts, poetry recitals and presentations of various styles of the Bedouin song.
