A 35-year-old woman convicted of murdering a toddler 15 years ago will walk free this month, the Gulf News reported Monday.

Nargis was convicted of strangling her husband's three-year-old boy from his first wife and trying to hide his body in a washing machine. The child was the son of Nargis' UAE national husband's first wife.

Abdul Sattar Pardasi, Pakistani community Welfare Secretary, was quoted as saying "we received several appeals to help Nargis. The blood money (a sum of money paid to the family of the victim by the culprit to compensate for damage or loss) was huge and we initially thought of collecting it from within the Pakistani business community in the UAE. But unfortunately we did not get a positive response from the community due to the nature of her crime," -- Albawaba.com
