Chef Ramzi, the Lebanese celebrity Chef who recently broke the Guinness World Record for the largest hummus and the largest tabouleh, gave a special cooking workshop to students from the Dubai Autism Center at Sezzam at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates on October 29th.
Chef Ramzi partnered with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, the largest Swiss watch retailer in the Middle East, to host the interactive cooking session for students aged 10-15 years with the support of the Dubai Autism Center.
The children were given a cooking demonstration and tips from Chef Ramzi on making sweet treats, pastries and snacks including profiteroles, maamoul (traditional Arabic cookies) and cheesecake before enjoying brunch with the celebrity Chef. To complete the visit, each student received a cooking pack from Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons including a Chefs hat, apron and a cookbook consisting of recipes contributed by children from around the world.
“Dubai Autism Center was very glad to allow the students to participate in such a fun activity, where they had the chance to generalize the skills that they learnt at the center in a different environment. This kind gesture from Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons and Chef Ramzi gives the opportunity for our DAC students to practice their social skills and be integrated with others in the society who are willing to donate their time and efforts for the sake of Autism,” said Sarah Al Marzooqi, Head of the OT Creative Unit of the Dubai Autism Centre.
The initiative is a part of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons’ long term CSR strategy which focuses on the three pillars of education, the community and the environment.
Said Ms Hind Seddiqi, VP Marketing at Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons: “As a local family owned company, we are keen to assist the community that has continued to support us for nearly 60 years. The Dubai Autism center is a very worthwhile cause and we hope to continue supporting such events in the future as we have done in the past.”
Holger Schroth, General Manager, Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates said about the initiative “We were thrilled to be involved in this important opportunity with Chef Ramzi, Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons and the Dubai Autism Center, this initiative will enhance these children’s social and vocational skills and empower them to have more belief in themselves and we wholeheartedly support this cause.”
