A Lebanese military court on Wednesday sentenced a man to one year in jail for calling on people to celebrate the death of Syrian President Hafez Assad, reported Reuters, quoting a judicial source said.
The source said the sentence on Salah Mehdi Nour Ed-Din, which could be appealed, was passed on Friday, six days after Assad died of a heart attack on June 10th.
The man was convicted of insulting behavior, said the agency - Albawaba.com
