Egypt’s administrative court revoked the parliamentary membership of Mustafa Ali Shahin for “evading his military service,” the daily Al Ahram said.
The plaintiff, Magdi Abdel Wahhab Al Rakhawi, had filed a motion at the court against the MP, the Minister of Justice and prosecutor general in his supervisory capacity on the election process demanding the abolishment of Shahin’s election win.
The defense had demanded a case dismiss, on grounds of the court’s lack of jurisdiction, but the court overruled the contest.
Parliament should now vote on stripping Shahin’s membership as was the case of two other MPs who lost their seats for holding double citizenships -- Albawaba.com
