The 42nd anniversary of the Republic of Cyprus is being celebrated Tuesday on the island with an impressive military parade, the salute of which President Glafcos Clerides will take, flanked by Defense Minister Socrates Hasikos and National Guard Commander Lieutenant General Athanasios Nikolodemos, the official Cyprus News Agency reported.
The Greek government is represented by Deputy National Defense Minister Lazaros Lotides, who will be received Tuesday morning by President Clerides. In the course of Tuesday’s parade, there is expected to be a display of motorized and foot divisions of the National Guard, the Police, the Fire Brigade and the Civil Defense, CNA added.
