Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides will participate Wednesday in a special ceremony to commemorate the first anniversary of the tragic events of September 11 in New York and Washington, the US embassy in Nicosia has announced, according to Cyprus news agency.
The President, who will be accompanied by Undersecretary to the President Pantelis Kouros, will address the remembrance ceremony. US Ambassador Michael Klosson will also speak to his guests at the embassy.
A moment of silence will be observed after the remarks by the President and the Ambassador, both of whom will then lay wreaths at the flag post in the embassy compound. The ceremony will close with the playing of the US national anthem by a police band. (Albawaba.com)
