AFP reports that Daesh claimed responsibility for the deadly car bombing in Homs, Syria on Saturday.

"Abu Ahmed al-Homsi parked his car in the Zahra neighbourhood and exploded it among the 'rafidis' before detonating his explosives belt," Daesh said in a statement online, using a derogatory term for Shia Muslims.

The explosion occured near a hospital in an Allowite neighborhood, according to AFP.

The details of the Daesh statement conflict with the Homs' governor's and a Syrian monitoring group's assessment of the attack. The Daesh statement claims 25 deaths and 70 wounded people, whereas the other statements determined only 16 deaths and 54 people wounded.
