Daesh has released a video showing the purported execution of four Sunni tribesmen in the Tikrit region for allegedly collaborating with the Iraqi government.

The video, showing masked gunmen shooting four Sunni tribesmen in the head, was released on Monday as 30,000 Iraqi forces started a huge operation to recapture the embattled city of Tikrit in the northern province of Salahuddin from Daesh.

Back in December 2013, the terrorist group executed 13 other Sunni tribesmen in the region.

On Sunday, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said thousands of the country’s troops have launched a massive military operation against Daesh to liberate the violence-wracked province.

"I call upon those who have been misled or committed a mistake to lay down arms and join their people and security forces in order to liberate their cities,'' he added.

Reports said Iraq’s Sunni tribes have dispatched several units to help the country’s army with the large-scale operation.
