Daman, the National Health Insurance Company, kicked off its ‘Give blood, give life’ campaign- a blood donation initiative in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Blood Bank.
For the third consecutive year, the blood donation campaign was launched across Daman’s branches starting the 13-15th of April. Daman is keen on playing an active role in bettering the health standards in the community, and does so by continuously involving its staff and educating the public on general health matters.
According to the Abu Dhabi Blood Bank, approximately every three seconds, someone in the UAE needs blood. It takes no more than ten minutes to collect 500ml of blood which could save up to three lives. Eligible blood donors can donate blood 3-4 times per year safely.
Dr. Jad Aoun, Chief Medical Officer at Daman commented: “Donating blood today could save someone’s life tomorrow, and this is the message we’re trying to spread. We are proud to work with the Abu Dhabi Blood Bank to raise awareness on the importance of blood donation and its positive effects on the community.”
The ‘Give blood, give life’ blood drive is open to Daman employees as well as the general public. This year, the bloodmobiles will be stationed at three of Daman’s Abu Dhabi branches: April 13th at the Corporate Sales Center (shown in picture), April 14th at Central Branch (Airport Road) and on April 15th at Head Office (Hamdan Street) from 9.00 am – 3.00 pm. There will be a specialist team from the Abu Dhabi Blood Bank on site to ensure the safety and protection of all parties involved during the blood donation process.
