Damascus Radio reported on Saturday the “division among Americans regarding a strike against Iraq” and “President Bush and Israeli enthusiasm as to launch a strike against Iraq”, the Syrian Arab news agency said.

The state-run radio stressed that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon claims Baghdad poses a threat to Israel, which motivates military and civilian Israeli circles to prompt the United States to strike against Iraq.

"When international political circles, including the United Nations, assert that all the issues pertaining to Iraq are to be politically sorted out, the US has started its preparations for a military strike,' the radio emphasized.

It further affirmed that Washington’s insistence to act according to “preconceived visions” do not serve even what the US claims as an international campaign to combat terrorism. (Albawaba.com)
