Damascus Radio stressed on Tuesday Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's statement that the region “is in need for development and economic growth” and not for “war drums”.

The state-run radio added that the US Administration “Hawks”, however, “continue to propagate for aggression and issue false and unjust accusations”. “The US Hawks, because of their stark bias to Israel and involvement in (Israeli Prime Minister Ariel) Sharon's schemes, have inflicted severe damage to the US reputation, credibility and role,” the radio said.

According to SANA, the radio further stated that Israel, which stockpiles nukes and threatens to use perpetrating daily crimes, has thus far implemented “no single UN resolution”. The Syrian radio, in its commentary, also welcomed the Iraqi return of UN inspectors as a stimulator for a historic Arab responsible position in defense of the nation’s solidarity. (Albawaba.com)
