Damascus radio emphasized on Tuesday that the most important issue was to convince the Americans and others with the “fact that the only justification of the war against Iraq is (the) Iraqi possession” of weapons of mass destruction.

The radio said that the inspectors should be given enough time to offer their final reports since Baghdad has expressed readiness to cooperate and offer all possible facilities to the inspectors.

In its daily political commentary, the state-run radio clarified that up until now, the arms inspectors have neither any evidence that Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction, nor proof that Iraq does not cooperate with them.

Cited by SANA, the radio added that Washington has convinced the entire world that it would launch a war against Iraq regardless of the inspectors’ reports and the Iraqi commitment to the Security Council resolution.

Moreover, it clarified that the war does not only target the Arab region and Iraq but also international legitimacy and relations.

In conclusion, the radio stressed the importance of “boosting and unifying our vision and stance at this critical period to form an international stance that would be able to limit the American unilateralism”. (Albawaba.com)
