Tourism industry leaders and dignitaries gathered at Danat Resort Jebel Dhanna for the official opening of the Abu Dhabi resort, which was held in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority.

The five-star property – the first on the west coast of the UAE, has been welcoming guests since January and, according to general manager, Manoj Kanwal, the 109-room hotel is set for an extremely busy winter.

Kanwal said: “Danat Resort Jebel Dhanna has enjoyed a steady rise in occupancy since the property’s soft opening in January. We are a full service resort with added extras such as access to the Sir Bani Yas island nature reserve as well as a number of sports and recreation facilities - and word is getting out across Arabia and Europe.”

At the resort, guests have access to many facilities including a private 800-metre sand beach, two floodlit tennis courts, two squash courts, swimming pool, plus indoor and outdoor massage.  Five superb restaurants and lounges offer varied dining experiences – including Pan-Arabic cuisine, a la carte menus and casual poolside fare.

“Abu Dhabi’s west coast is the Emirates’ best kept secret in the travel industry.  We have recently seen an increased interest from European guests, particularly from Germany and Switzerland, who have discovered our rich Arabian hospitality combined with the relaxed five-star resort atmosphere,” said Kanwal.

For a short getaway or a week on the beach, Danat Resort Jebel Dhanna provides as much or as little activity as guests require.

Kanwal’s motto remains ‘sun, sand, sea and silence,’ and he is confident of the resort’s growing international reputation.  “Our boutique product stands alone on the west coast and deserves discovering. It is only a matter of time.”

Owned and operated by Danat Hotels & Resorts, a division of the National Corporation of Tourism & Hotels based in Abu Dhabi, it is the first five-star deluxe resort on the west coast of the UAE and the flagship for tourism development in that region.

Danat Hotels & Resorts, a division of the Abu Dhabi-based National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCT&H) manages two new five-star resorts, the Danat Resort Jebel Dhanna and the Al Raha Beach Hotel, as well as a cluster of four-star properties in the emirate. The hotels are either owned and/or managed by the group, or where the group is the owner-representative.

The National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCT&H) was formed in 1996 in response to the need to develop both tourism and commerce in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), especially Abu Dhabi.

The Corporation was formed as a semi-government organisation. NCT&H’s primary objective is to promote Abu Dhabi as an international destination, manage hotels and provide transportation and industrial catering services.
