ALBAWABA- Heavy rains have lashed many parts of Yemen, causing widespread devastation. In the Tehama region, particularly in Hodeida and Hajjah governorates, more than 20,000 people have been affected.
Hundreds of houses have vanished, dozens of cars have been swept away, and hundreds of cattle are missing.
In Hodeida alone, 30 people have died, others are missing, and dozens of homes have been completely destroyed, with major roads rendered impassable, according to local sources.
Circulating photos reveal extensive damage to homes, farms, roads, and property in Hodeida province due to the floods.
Local sources report the deaths and disappearances of dozens of citizens in the past hours. Floods caused by torrential rain have left 45 people dead across Yemen, according to a UN agency and local officials.
In Mahweet, Amran, and Sana'a, heavy rains have blocked streets and damaged many houses, while lightning strikes have killed several residents in the mountainous areas of Amran, Sa'dah, Hajjah, and Mahweet in the last week.
In Taiz Governorate, central Yemen, heavy rains and floods have affected around 10,000 people, resulting in 15 deaths, the destruction of 80 wells, and extensive damage to agricultural lands and infrastructure, according to a UN report.
People are facing a real disaster with no effective intervention to mitigate the impact of the floods, while aid agencies struggle to address urgent needs amid limited funds for rapid response.
