ALBAWABA - Along with U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement that a peace deal with Iran is expected to be inked on Sunday, Iranians took to the streets to show their firm stance against making an agreement with Washington.
"The deal is to be signed tomorrow, and immediately after the signing, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened to all," Trump posted Saturday on Truth Social.
He added, "In due course, when the situation calms down, we will go in and extract the nuclear dust buried deep beneath the sunken granite mountains with our beautiful B-2 bombers and their skilled pilots. We will dilute and destroy it, whether in Iran or the United States."
Iranians protest peace deal with Washington:
Dozens of Iranians gathered outside a foreign ministry office in the northeastern city of Mashhad, chanting slogans against the country's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi after an interview in which he discussed a possible peace deal with the U.S.
Iranian protesters accused the minister of being an "infiltrator" as they were heard chanting, "Death to dishonorable Araghchi, the infiltrator" and "Araghchi, have some shame, put the negotiations aside".
Other clips were also shared on social media showing demonstrators calling top Iranian officials to resign over the expected deal with Washington.
Videos that AFP could not independently verify showed people outside the foreign ministry building in Tehran chanting "Araghchi, resign" and "Ghalibaf, resign" [in reference to parliament speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf].
