Eighteen more miners that were trapped in a flooded coal mine in Wu'an city, China, were confirmed dead on Monday by Chinese authorities, bringing the death toll in the mining disaster to 68.
A total of 221 men were working in the Gaocun Coal Mine of the Hebei province when last Thusday’s accident left them trapped underground. Nine of the miners managed to escape, according to AFP.
Rescuers found the body of the last trapped miner on Monday, bringing the total number of victims to 68, according to Xinhua.
All the victims have been identified, according to Xinhua; Chinese officials have begun compensating the victims' families.
