Defense lawyers in the trial of Qatar's failed 1996 coup plotters will resume their presentations in the court of appeals Monday, the QNA news agency reported Sunday.
Defense lawyers are contesting the criminal high court's September 7 verdict, which condemned the alleged coup mastermind, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem al-Thani, a member of the royal family, to life imprisonment.
Lawyers are also challenging an identical ruling handed out to the Sheikh's 32 co-conspirators last February.
The accused are charged with trying to reinstall Qatar's former leader Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani who was deposed by his son Sheikh Hamad in June 1995.
