Delegation from Leiden Dutch University Visits GAM

A students delegation from the Dutch University, Leiden, recently visited Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and was briefed on the most important projects and municipal services extended to the City and the citizens. 
The delegation listened to an explanation by City Deputy Manager for Cultural, Social, and Sports Affairs, Eng. Haitham Jweinat, about GAM’s role, and its biggest tasks and responsibilities towards the City and its citizens, which positively impact the quality of the municipal services.
The delegation also watched a short movie about the development of Amman City along the history, including the major historical and urban imprints of the City, in addition to GAM’s future plans and current projects in the metropolitan plan domains, and preserving environment, to contribute to developing Amman City and to keeping pace with the latest developments in all fields.
The delegation was furthered briefed on GAM’s role in supporting the cultural movement through founding libraries and cultural centers in the Capital regions, under the slogan “Culture for Development”, which means servicing the society by employing culture to upgrade the value concepts of the community members.
The delegation members expressed, during their visit to several facilities of GAM, their appreciation of the role GAM plays to serve Amman and the citizens.
This visit to GAM comes within a tour framework in the Kingdom that also includes a number of governmental establishments, and organizations of the civil society, as well as several meetings with the officials to review aspects of the cultural and political life in Jordan.
