Delta Air Lines Launches Nonstop Flight from New York’s JFK to Cairo

Delta is only U.S. carrier to offer direct service between the two countries

Delta Air Lines achieved a new milestone today as it successfully launched a nonstop flight from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Cairo International Airport (CAI).  The flight is the first in Delta’s new service which will make it the only U.S. airline to offer a direct link between the two countries. The new route will run five times a week and be operated using a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.  The service is expected to strengthen business and tourism links between the two countries.

The arrival of the flight was celebrated by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Pierre Spain, Delta’s Regional Director, Airport Operations for Europe and Africa. Also in attendance were representatives from the U.S. diplomatic team in Cairo; Karim Nabhan, Branch Manager for Delta Air Lines, Egypt; members of the Egyptian aviation industry; and the Delta Egypt Team.

Travelers flying from Cairo will benefit from over 40 convenient connections throughout the United States and Canada to business and leisure destinations including Atlanta, Los Angeles, Orlando, San Francisco and Tampa.

The new flight will offer opportunities for freight forwarders and cargo shippers.
