DHL Bahrain, the country’s largest express logistics provider, will be sponsoring Bahraini student, Miss Noor Faisal Ahmed the president of the Model United Nations Society, who has been chosen to attend the 35th Annual National Model United Nations in New York, United States of America. It will be held between 18th and 24th March 2007.
The Model United Nations Society from AMA University of Bahrain will be the first to represent their country, Kingdom of Bahrain, and are the first Model United Nations university delegation to attend from the GCC.
About 3500 delegates from over 50 different countries attend the National Model United Nations Conference (NMUN). It is hosted in a different international location each spring where 27 simulated committees of the UN and other international organizations gather to discuss issues facing this generation. Students and faculty attendees work feverishly to propose resolutions addressing regional conflicts, peacekeeping, human rights, women and children, economic and social development, and the environment. The NMUN programs provide students with a better understanding of the inner working of the UN as they build skills in diplomacy and compromise.
Nour Suliman, DHL Bahrain General Manager said: “We are proud to sponsor Noor to represent Bahrain in such a prestigious international conference which emphasizes the Kingdom’s leading role in promoting and encouraging its young generation as well as stressing the importance of achieving a general understanding of the issues facing the world”.
Nour Suliman recently awarded Noor Ahmed the DHL Bahrain sponsorship at DHL Bahrain country office.
“I am happy to receive such encouragement from such a widely reputed organization as DHL and I would like to thank them for giving me the opportunity to attend this important event. I hope that my attendance will open the doors for other participants to take advantage of this once in a lifetime chance to proudly represent their country on a global scale”, commented Noor Ahmed.
DHL’s sponsorship comes as part of its constant strategy of supporting Bahrainis in more than one aspect. With 83% of its workforce Bahraini nationals, DHL Bahrain’s reputation as one of the leading employers of choice in the region is well known.
