Diamond Trading Company and MBC FM announce poetry competition

The world's leading supplier of natural diamonds, The Diamond Trading Company (DTC), and MBC FM announced today a new competition giving aspiring poets the chance to win a Bridal diamond set and other diamond prizes worth 100,000 SAR.

“The competition will help Saudi men to express their feelings towards their wives and brides-to-be. Males in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia can find it difficult to express their feelings towards their wife, particularly in the early stages of their relationship, around the wedding period. Poetry, the most accepted and prevalent form of expression for an Arab, enables a man to beautifully and honestly express his feelings towards his wife,” said Anan Fakhreddin, Diamond Promotion Service (DPS) Director of the DTC, the sales and marketing arm of the De Beers Group.

DTC and MBC FM are inviting men to tell his bride in a poem, what he saw in her that made him decide she was the one for life. Participants will be required to fax their poems beginning “I saw in her” to the fax number: 00966 14410616.

The best ten radio entrants will present their winning poems at a gala event on June 14 in Riyadh where they will be judged by renowned Arab poets. The final winner will be awarded a spectacular Bridal diamond set.  Two runner-up prizes of diamond rings will also be awarded.

Bridal, a brand new program for diamond jewellery sets, was announced recently by the DTC.

“The Bridal program is a new inspiration for jewellers across the Gulf to design diamond jewellery sets that are as rare and unique as the bride herself,” added Mr Fakhreddin.

“The groom and his family want to show the bride that she is really wanted and cherished by offering her something precious and only a diamond jewellery set can express that she is his rarest and most precious treasure.”

Using the tagline ‘You’re the one for life’, the Bridal campaign captures the moment when a man sees something rare and unique in a woman and realizes that she is the right one for him for life.

“A diamond set expresses a groom’s recognition that his bride is the perfect and only partner for life because each diamond is as unique as the bride herself. Many men find it hard to articulate their true feelings and a Bridal set enables a man to express what words cannot to his future wife,” Mr Fakhreddin concluded.
