DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ, one of Bahrain’s biggest mixed-use residential urban developments, today reaffirmed its commitment to the community by donating a bus to Al Dair Club in Muharraq. The initiative is in line with the DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ’s overall objective of contributing to the social development of communities within Bahrain. The bus was handed over by DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ to the President of Al Dair club, Mr. Abass Mahdi.
Mr. Aaref Hejres, Chief Executive Officer of DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ commented: “As part of our ongoing corporate social responsibility program, we constantly seek to provide a helping hand to various segments of the local community, particularly the surrounding areas of Muharraq.”
"Being a Bahraini project conceived for all people, DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ remains committed to supporting the community, and we hope the bus will help facilitate and boost the club’s ongoing efforts. DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ will continue to support youth and sports in the future, by supporting numerous initiatives to help develop the potential of young people in Bahrain,” he added.
Founded in 1961, the Al Dair club has over the years played a prominent role in educating youth and refining their talents, by encouraging and providing opportunities for their involvement in various activities focusing on education, culture and sports. With 274 members, the club will soon be expanding its facilities to include families and ladies in its activities.
Mr. Abbas Mahdi, President of Al Dair Club, expressing his gratitude to DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ, said: “We are extremely thankful to Diyar Al Muharraq for their generous contribution. They are playing a leading role in serving the country and community by supporting clubs like ours. The bus will be extremely useful for our club and will be utilised to give even more youngsters to participate in club activities. Such support from the private sector is badly needed to allow clubs like ours to continue operating.”
As part of its social responsibility program, DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ has also extended its support to other clubs in the country including Samaheej, Galali and the Muharraq club.
In addition to supporting the existing local community, the self-contained city of DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ will provide much increased access to a wide range of quality public and private amenities, including sports’ grounds and community clubs, giving both residents and visitors opportunity to exercise regularly, and to meet in a community setting.
DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ is also setting a benchmark in urban development by offering reasonably priced housing available across all income groups. It will provide a cohesive mix of residential and commercial properties with housing opportunities for over 120,000 people in around 30,000 housing units. Diyar Al Muharraq will be the first development in Bahrain to offer 40 kilometers of waterfront. This will include walkways, sea-facing parks, sandy beaches and a marina with a pleasant waterfront promenade, making it one of the Kingdom’s most sought after destinations.
