Djibouti palace Kempinski completes second phase

Nakheel Hotels & Resorts of Dubai and Kempinski Hotels have completed the second phase extension of their superb five star resort at the Horn of Africa setting it further beyond comparison within the entire area. Djibouti Palace Kempinski has now increased its initial 175 guest room inventory to a total of 253 rooms and suites and 55 apartments.

Construction was carried out by renowned Taisei, the same Japanese company having already constructed the first part. The traditional architectural design of Phase one has now got a counterpart with the new six level high building consisting of deluxe hotel rooms and suites, stores and lounges, bars and restaurants, a gym and spacious spa area and luxury hotel apartments.

The state of the art fitness center offers the latest sports and gym equipment which caters to the strong demand from the top end community of local residents and expatriates. Operated by Softouch, K-Wellness Spa is unique in the northern region of East Africa and offers a wide range of international massage treatments by an international team of specialists such as Balinese massage and Indian Ayurveda. The spa houses various treatment rooms, sauna, steam bath and an Arabic Hammam. The second swimming pool completes the wellness oasis of the Djibouti Palace Kempinski.

Mr. Orlando Stefani, General Manager, said: “Djibouti is a destination where the waters of Red Sea and Indian Ocean mingle as do the cultural varieties of Africa and the Arab world, which is the same motto as for the hotel”. “The first phase of the hotel which was opened in November 2006, already features a casino, night club, large pool and garden area, several restaurants and bars in addition to the region's largest banqueting room which is enough for 1100 people; however, the newly completed second phase presents itself as the recreational part of the property and adds many leisure components to the hotel”, added Stefani.


Guests can enjoy a variety of freshly squeezed juices and fruit cocktails either indoors or on the terrace of Vitamin Bar; additionally, the Sky Bar, which is the highest bar in Djibouti with breathtaking panoramic views over Djibouti bay and the ocean, offers a variety of drinks and cocktails in an amazing atmosphere during sunset or in the sparkling evenings.

Featuring Italian cuisine of excellent quality aiming to be the best in town, the new restaurant "Tentazioni" offers guests à la carte and set menu dining options with a fine selection of Italian and international wines and beverages.

At the new Kids Club, children can spend the days carrying out a variety of activities from sports to games and swimming in the children pool under the observation of well trained staff.

The hotel currently boasts three restaurants, five bars, a night club, a casino, a ballroom, four conference and meeting rooms, two lounges, gym, spa, Arabic Hammam, swimming pools, Diving Center, Beach activities, two Tennis courts, hairdresser for women and men and various retail shops.
