The “Dubai Cares” campaign was recently initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai..  It consisted of a multi-phased approach with the objective of providing learning opportunities to underprivileged children around the world.  With HCT support and enthusiasm of our students, DMC is committed to be an active partner and help make this campaign truly successful.

In response to this humanitarian campaign, Dubai Men’s College organized a student-led project which will represent phase 1 of the program and eventually it will encompass HCT campuses.

Phase 1 comprises the fund-raising component. Our students initiated a campaign to support this phase starting this Sunday, October 7th and expected to run the 22nd October.  The Student Administration Council (SAC) members, Foundations Department and Level 1 students will lead the drive that will target our internal DMC population of students, staff and teachers and eventually will include all HCT colleges.

Organizing committee of the project developed strategies for the collection of donations and marketing the concept to the whole body of the college throughout the period of the campaign 7-22 October 2007.

DMC took the starting initiative to collaborate and partner with Dubai Cares with a particular focus on education that ties in well with the main aim of the campaign which is to create basic conditions for students to excel in education and take their rightful position as positive contributors to their societies.

Dr. Tayeb Kamali, HCT Vice Chancellor, emphasised on the important role played by HCT through participation with the Dubai Cares to fulfil the objective of this campaign.  He also expressed his immense appreciation of the initiative expressed by students in the project started by DMC and confirmed that this project will grow to include all HCT campuses.
