Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) announced that following the phenomenal success of ‘Destination Dubai,’ the Arab style marquee hosted by DMCC at Baselworld 2006, it had hosted the majlis style tent at the Hong Kong Watch and Jewellery Show 2006. The event is being held from September 18th to 23rd, 2006 at both the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre and Asia World-Expo.

DMCC showcased its portfolio of brands within the precious sector at a specially created networking area alongside the main show. The majlis style tent offered visitors to this year’s show a chance to familiarize themselves with the various DMCC branded products and services that have added significant value to the gold, diamond and jewellery industries in the Middle East.

“The growing trade through Dubai in gold, precious metals, diamonds and coloured stones has reiterated the Emirate’s position as an important stopping point on the jewellery trade routes,” said Ms Gaiti Rabbani, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, DMCC “Through our participation in this show, we aim to project Dubai as a destination of choice for international jewellery traders. To this end, DMCC is showcasing Dubai, its established merchant culture, hospitable customs and tremendous ease of doing business through this unique Arab style tent - “Destination Dubai.,” she added.

“One of the world's top three jewellery events, the Hong Kong Watch and Jewellery Show is recognized as the biggest jewellery fair in Asia and the second largest diamond and gemstone fair in the world. DMCC’s participation at the event highlights Dubai’s growing role in this industry and underlines our commitment to growing and developing this industry further,” she added.

Made of brightly coloured canvas, the open 143-square metre ‘Destination Dubai’ tent proved to be a great attraction for visitors to the Jewellery show, as it enabled them to experience Dubai’s distinctive attractions at first hand. The dedicated hospitality/networking area, strategically positioned in the diamonds hall, was equipped with traditional Arab style furniture and offered guests ethnic Arab coffee and dates.

The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) has contributed to creating greater transparency and efficient business standards in the gold, jewellery and diamond industry in the Middle East with the introduction of several industry specific initiatives.
