A delegation from Dubai state-owned Dnata, air travel services supplier, is expected to visit Tripoli next week to begin talks on developing ground handling services at Tripoli, Bengazi, Sert and Sabha airports, a senior official at the Libya Civil Aviation Authority was quoted as saying by the Gulf News Sunday.
"We have agreed with Dnata to develop our ground handling facilities. We expect them next week for final preparations on this," said Taher Abdullah Barkan, the authority’s director.
Dnata introduces itself as the largest, most innovative and most successful supplier of air travel services in the Middle East.
It was established by the Dubai Government in 1959 to provide ground handling services at Dubai International Airport.
The official added, meanwhile, that Libya Airlines plans to develop its fleet this year.
"We have several proposals. We can lease the planes or buy them,” he said.
We have just started cooperating with national carriers, and will decide which companies we will also talk to. "Oasis Leasing could be in the offing," he added.
Talks on fleet development, said the paper, are being held with several Arab and Western countries.
