A doctor and two midwives from the Rafidia public hospital in Nablus have been suspended after a woman and her infant died Monday, 12 hours after she was admitted to give birth.
The suspensions were confirmed Wednesday by Director of Public Relations at the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Omar al-Nasr, who added that Minister of Health Jawad Awwad tasked a special committee with investigating the death of 29-year-old Zakiyya Nasr from the village of Salem in Jenin.
The ministerial committee on Wednesday recommended the suspension of a doctor and two midwives, and the Ministry of Health has put the recommendation into effect until a final decision is made after the committee submits its final report.
