ALBAWABA- Doctor Adnan Al-Borsh, head of the Orthopedics Department at Shifa Hospital, has been martyred due to torture after being detained by Israeli occupation forces. He is the latest victim in a series of physicians who have been tortured to death by Israeli forces.

Dr. Al-Borsh was arrested by Israeli forces last December. The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority and the Palestinian Prisoners Club confirmed his martyrdom, along with another prisoner from Gaza, Ismail Abdel Bari Rajab Khader.

The occupation forces assassinated Dr. Al-Borsh after detaining him last December while he was at Al-Awda Hospital. He was martyred in Ofer Prison on April 19, 2024.

Before his arrest, Dr. Al-Borsh had been injured while receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Indonesia about 5 months ago.

The deliberate assassination of Dr. Al-Borsh is part of a pattern of targeting doctors and the healthcare system in Gaza. This includes the attack on Shifa Hospital, which was turned into a graveyard, and the arrest of hundreds of medical personnel.

The authorities condemned the torture and assaults against detainees in Gaza and called for international institutions to investigate these crimes and ensure the detainees' human rights are protected.

Since the beginning of its aggression on the Strip, Israel has killed more than 490 medical professionals in Gaza. The targeting of medical teams has raised concerns about the safety of healthcare workers in the Gaza Strip.
