A Druse student from the village of Buqaata in the Golan Heights has been detained for allegedly having contacts with Syrian intelligence agents, according to an Israeli daily on Thursday.

The man was arrested a few weeks ago, details became available after a magistrates court partially removed a publication ban, The Jerusalem Post reported.

Israel's Itim news agency reported that the man was arrested in early June by the Israeli Shin Bet Security Service after he took part in a program that allows young Druse from the Golan Heights to study in Syria.

Israeli police said that the man confessed to having contacts with a Syrian intelligence agent. Further details of the case are still banned from publication, the Israeli newspaper added. (Albawaba.com)
