Drydocks World – Dubai makes donation to Mohammed Bin Rashid Humanitarian and Charity Establishment

Drydocks World– Dubai, the region’s largest ship repair, conversion and new building yard and the flag ship operation of Drydocks World Group, today (Monday, April 26, 2010) donated 30 portable cabins and 60 air conditioning units to the Mohammed Bin Rashid Humanitarian and Charity Establishment.

Mr. Saleh Zahir Saleh, Managing Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Charity and Humanitarian Establishment signed the hand-over documents for the donations. Mr. Ahmad Sultan Bin Hareb, Regional CEO Office Manager signed the documents on behalf of Drydocks World.

In a statement, Mr. Hamed Bin Lahej Vice Chairman and Regional CEO MENA region of Drydocks World said: “We are honoured to support the Mohammed bin Rashid Charity and Humanitarian Establishment. The Establishment’s creditable work has made tremendous impact on the social well-being and development of the underprivileged in the UAE and abroad.  As a company, Drydocks World is committed to establishing stronger ties with local and international communities it operates in, and also extending support to the underprivileged. This spirit drives our social responsibility policy.”

Mr. Saleh Zahir Saleh said: “The Establishment is appreciative of support from corporations based in Dubai and always welcomes contributions from them.  The portable cabins donated by Drydocks World – Dubai can be used as portable mobile offices or as temporary housing for people in crisis struck nations, as part of our international relief programmes. We are thankful for the company’s support.”

Mr. Ahmad Sultan Bin Harib laid emphasis on the shipyard’s key role in offering services to the maritime industry and said, “Our role as a leading shipyard is widely acknowledged. But we would like to also play a definite role in bringing the benefits of our actions directly to the society at large. Our contribution to the Establishment is a small initiative in this regard.” 

The Mohammed bin Rashid Charity and Humanitarian Establishment (MBRCE) was formed in 1997. The humanitarian services of this establishment go beyond Dubai and the UAE to all needy people round the world. These services include financial aid to needy families, both national and expatriate, in addition to education and food. They include maintaining and building houses for citizens, financing charitable projects in the education and health fields, building mosques outside the UAE, providing aid to those with special needs and for sponsoring orphans. The Establishment also provides relief to victims in disaster stricken areas around the world and recently provided food and medical aid to victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
