Drydocks World – Dubai wins laurels at 6th Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards

Drydocks World – Dubai, the ship repair, conversion and building subsidiary of Dubai World, added another laurel to its long list of achievements when it won the Ship Repair/Shipyard Award at the sixth annual Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards ceremony held at xxxxx in Dubai on xxx. The award is for best practices in the maritime safety and environment, ports operations, ship maintenance, efficiency, security and finance.
    
Nawal Sighal, Director General of the Drydocks World – Dubai, received the award at the glittering high-profile ceremony attended by over 700 people, including leaders of the industry and senior officials from leading maritime companies in the region.

Sighal said the award was an honour and a great catalyst to further improve Drydocks World – Dubai’s services. He added: “Ship building and repair constitute an indispensable part of the maritime industry worldwide. This award provides us with the momentum to enhance our competitive edge, which is based on qualitative excellence in service in all areas.

“The award reconfirms Drydocks World – Dubai’s leading position in international maritime industry. It also underlines Dubai’s role as a strategic player in providing the right integrated environment to take up major projects that require hi-tech and state-of-art equipment. Our strength is our experience in this field and the commitment to comply with international standards with respect to environment, health, and safety.”     

Drydocks World – Dubai was established with the merger of Jadaf Shipbuilding and Dubai Drydocks, which launched their operations in 1979 and 1983 respectively. Jadaf serves smaller vessel owners, while Dubai Drydocks, with one of the largest repair docks in the world, focuses on the upper end of the market.

Drydocks World - Dubai has become a distinguished maritime landmark on Dubai shore. Sighal noted that Drydocks World is confident of becoming a leading global entity with a firm base in South-East Asia with its expansion plans in India, China, and Vietnam.  “This march would not have materialised without the capability Drydocks World – Dubai enjoys, especially with the strong support from our employees and partners. This has helped us turn what was thought by many as an impossible task into a great success,” he said.
