The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), organisers of the 9th Ramadan Forum, which is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, launched the charity caravan program today featuring the distribution of multilingual publications, booklets and CDs about Islam and its rituals across Dubai, in cooperation with the authorities in the UAE.
Mohammed Al Hashemi, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 9th Ramadan Forum, explained that the caravan will distribute 20,000 bags containing publications, booklets and CDs to various public and private organisations in Dubai, in addition to 30,000 booklets and 10,000 CDs in English, Tagalog and Urdu languages which will be distributed to non-Arabic speakers in the emirate.

Al Hashemi added that a dedicated team from the committee members chaired by Mohammed Al Buraimi, two other supervisors and eight volunteers, will implement the program according to a distribution plan in cooperation with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police. The program will be implemented in two phases – the first phase will target the public, non-profit and private organizations and hospitals; and the second phase will cover public places, shopping malls, parks and sports clubs.
Al Hashemi emphasized that the organizing committee was very keen this year to launch the charity at the beginning of Ramadan to achieve the goals of the forum, increase the participation of non-Arab speakers and build bridges between Arab and foreign Muslims in the UAE and maintain Islamic values during the holy month.
“The 9th Ramadan Forum targets all the members of Muslim families and community members including older generations, children and the youth as well as people with special needs and orphans. The Forum aims to underline the importance of sharing during the holy month through the dissemination of positive social values, promoting the concept of territorial cohesion and solidarity, supporting religious life patterns among the family members, reaffirming the importance of volunteering through community service and positive integration with all segments of the society. The Forum also aims to instill Islamic and social values among children and the youth of the country”, said Al Hashemi.
With regards to the charity caravan, Al Hashemi said: “The booklet contains a program for 30 days to encourage Muslims to prioritize their activities during the holy month in a simple and eloquent way. Since the launch of the program few years ago, it has achieved positive results and has helped promote the UAE’s culture and traditions. The charity caravan aims to create a deeper understanding of Islam among nationals and expatriates as it presents valuable information about Islamic obligations and the value of Islamic teachings”.
The 9th Ramadan Forum will launch its rich cultural programme today with an interesting lecture on “How to win people’s hearts”. Saudi scholar Sheikh Sulaiman Al Jubailan will be delivering a lecture at 10 pm opposite Dubai Airport Freezone in the Al Twar area. The event, named ‘Gathering to succeed’, will feature a variety of programmes, including 17 lectures in Arabic, six in English and one in Tagalog language for non-Arab communities.
