du’s family of employees spreads the spirit of Ramadan with Iftar donations

Employee contributions will enable du to offer 55 thousand Iftar meals during Ramadan – up from 45 thousands – and help the needy enjoy the season

As part of efforts to bring comfort to those less fortunate during Ramadan, du is providing Mawaed Al Rahman – special Iftar tents – in three convenient locations close to Mosques: near Masjid Sh Hazza Bin Zayed on Hamdan Street in Abu Dhabi; near Masjid Bin Salmeen in Dubai’s Al Qusais 2 neighbourhood; and near Masjid Al Quds in Sharjah’s Al Fasht area. Each air-conditioned tent will be open every evening throughout the Holy Month, offering people a welcoming place to break their fast and enjoy the festiveness of the season. Thanks to generous donations from du employees, each of the three tent capacities has been increased from 500 to 600 daily meals.

“Through a special internal campaign, we invited our employees to embrace the spirit of generosity that makes this time of year so special – and they responded with true compassion. The donations collected from our family of employees will allow us to serve an additional 300 free Iftar meals per day for the duration of Ramadan,” said Hala Badri, EVP Brand and Communications, du. “du’s corporate social responsibility initiatives are supported by our entire organization, and we are proud to serve the communities that have contributed to our success as a home-grown UAE company.”

For the second consecutive year, du’s Mawaed Al Rahman will be situated in highly-visible locations in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah that are all close to mosques, making them convenient for Muslims performing the Maghrib prayer around Iftar time. Each tent can provide meals to 600 people every evening – 375 at tables and 225 at takeaway counters – and all food is prepared in a manner that is fully compliant with health and safety standards.

However, food is not all that is on offer at du’s Mawaed Al Rahman: these welcoming tents encourage a spirit of togetherness and provide a joyful atmosphere for people who may be living alone in the UAE, far from their families. With comfortable seating, air-conditioning and the fellowship of shared tables, those enjoying Iftar in the Mawaed Al Rahman will have a truly memorable Ramadan experience.

du’s array of Ramadan initiatives and special offers include an ‘SMS to Donate’ campaign to facilitate charitable donations to various causes (text ‘Ramadan’ to short-code 8000 for a list of causes and corresponding short-codes); 1 fils credit for every second of international calls made between 21:00 and 07:00 during Ramadan; and a ‘double your talk-time’ offer for Pay as you Go customers.
